discrimination, etc. It looks into the solutions and improvements for the social
injustice done throughout the world.

World Day of Social Justice 2021 Theme: A Call for Social
Justice in the Digital Economy

The World Economy has diverted to the Digital Platform after the Covid- 19
pandemic. Digital platforms served as a wonderful alternative to the traditional
methods but there have been a lot of challenges after the economy has become
reliant on the digital platform.
This theme of World Day of Social Justice 2021 is to address the issues related
to working conditions on digital platforms.

While digital labor platforms provide people with more income-generating opportunities and a flexible working system, they also present a few issues.

These challenges relate to the regularity of work and income, their rights to
appropriate working conditions, social security and a fair standard of living,
skills utilization, and the right to form or join trade associations.

The consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are going to disturb the economy
for a long time. To secure the basic rights of employees who have now switched
to the digital platform, this day will be focused on ensuring Social Justice in the
Digital Economy.

World Day of Social Justice: History

In 1995, the World Summit for Social Development was held in Copenhagen,
Denmark, which resulted in the Copenhagen Declaration and Programme of
Action. In the summit, more than 100 political leaders pledged to strive against
poverty and to bring full employment, and work for stable, secure societies.

After 10 years, the members of UN states reconsidered the Declaration of
Copenhagen and Programme of Action for Social Development in New York in
February 2005.

The advancement of social development was the key point of
discussion. On 26 th November 2007, the UN General Assembly announced 20 th
February as the annual World Day of Social Justice. This day was first observed
in 2009.
The World Summit, aimed at social developments: social justice, solidarity,
harmony, and equality within and among countries.

Social justice, equality, and equity constitute the fundamental principles of all societies. The state must design a framework to promote social justice at national, regional, and
international levels for all in society.

They also pledged to generate an equal opportunity for job seekers, equitable
