- Every 29 April is International Dance Day, a day set aside by the International Dance Council to promote public awareness of the “art of dance”.
- International Dance Day is a celebration day for those who can see the value and importance of the art form “dance”, and acts as a wake-up-call for governments, politicians and institutions which have not yet recognised its value to the people and to the individual and have not yet realised its potential for economic growth.
- The International Dance Day was created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute ITI, the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO in 1982.
- It was chosen on April 29th because it was the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, innovator, and scholar of this art, teacher, and creator of modern ballet.
- This celebration strives to encourage the participation and education of dance through events and festivals held during this date around the world.

- For the year 2021 the message is from FriedemannVOGEL,a ballet dancer, he was selected as the Dancer of the Year in 2019.
